Professional Development Workshops

 Science Instruction Using the 5E Method for Grades K-12
Description: The structure of the learning environment should promote opportunities and events that encourage and support the building of understanding. In this workshop, the process of constructivist science instruction is explained by employing five E’s: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. At the conclusion of this workshop, instructors will know how to improve instruction by employing the 5E Model of science instruction.
Workshop Length: 2 to 8 Hours
Intended Audience: Grades K-12 Science Instructors, Curriculum Specialists, and Administrators

 Improving Science Instruction and Content Knowledge for Grades 6-8
Description: Using the NSTA’s “Stop Faking It! Finally Understanding Science So You Can Teach It� series, professional development providers will review the major concepts, skills, and instructional approaches to improve science instruction in middle school. Topics can include any or all of the following areas: Light, Forces and Motion, Energy, Sound, Math, Air, Water and Weather, Chemistry Basics, and More Chemistry Basics.
Workshop Length: 2 to 8 Hours
Intended Audience: Grades 6-8 Science Instructors, Curriculum Specialists, and Administrators

 Preparing Students for the High School Biology End of Course Assessment for Grades 8-12
Description:During this workshop, the presenter will review the content of the Biology EOC, as well as specific strategies that educators can employ to assist their students to perform better on the exams. By the conclusion of the workshop, instructors will have all of the information and resources they will need to assure their students' success.
